The ‘Queen of Hell’ is put to bed…

As loyal to her moniker as we remain, the countess of Home aptly known as ‘’The Queen of Hell’’ was put to bed and the ‘Lady Elizabeth’ awoke, for a more graceful take on a Home House classic.

Whether it’s a chance to rest your weary head in one of our beautiful and elegantly designed bedrooms after a spontaneous night of revelry at the House, or perhaps in anticipation of some well-earned retail therapy in the West End; our luxurious bedrooms are hidden treasures that help make the House a true Home from home.

With ever-growing demand over recent years to stay in one of the wonderful rooms, we are delighted to announce the addition of two new Club bedrooms. With the invaluable guidance and design skills of Mr Russell Sage (Russell Sage Studio, London), the ‘Lady Elizabeth’ and ‘Marquis de la Luzerne’ have been added to the array of Home House bedrooms. Both proudly reside in House 19 and are, as you would expect, in keeping with the gorgeous Georgian opulence and splendour synonymous of the House.

It was high time that Elizabeth Countess of Home was honoured with a suite of her own and that is precisely what has happened.  She commissioned the building in 1772 and now members and guests can be just that little bit closer to the woman called in her time, ‘The Queen of Hell.’ Lady Elizabeth features a generous half tester bed with claret curtaining.  Be prepared to be wowed by the sumptuous Gainsborough silk curtains, sourced from one of the few traditional weavers left in England.  Lady Home would surely have approved. In addition, the room is complete with an original fireplace and reclaimed chandelier.  The bathroom is bright with traditional patterned tiles decorated with a hand-blocked wallpaper in a dusky red. Home House was also the French Embassy in exile during the Revolution and leased to the Marquis de la Luzerne in the 1790s.  He too is remembered with a room of his own with a wallpaper taken from an 18th century silk pattern in a delicate duck egg blue, against which sits a generous half tester bed with silk curtaining.

For those tempted to doze in delight, all of our rates can be found on our website, including guest rates for those who are not yet part of the eclectic membership family. For those who have just joined Home House, don’t forget to take full advantage of your complimentary breakfast when staying in any of our bedrooms.

Whether it be a much loved classic such as the Patricia Portman room with its secret staircase, or one of the new rooms detailed herein, expect nothing but beautifully preserved history with a welcome mix of 21st century luxury, service and comfort.

There really is no place like Home!
