The Wallace Collection is one of London’s most unique and least-known museums.
Join Rose Balston of Art History for a tour of this magnificent 18th century townhouse to view its shimmering collection of indulgent Rococo froth, French objets d’art and stunning paintings by Titian, Velazquez, Fragonard, Boucher and Watteau.
This tour journeys from the rigorous etiquette of Louis XIV’s court, to the decadently saucy scenes of Madame de Pompadour’s France and the tragic execution of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. Along the way we’ll discuss the history of the house, the development of the collection, the Hertford family and of course, Richard Wallace.
