Art Society: Old Hampstead Village Evening Walk
EVENT INFORMATION
Our partnership with Rose Balston and the fantastic team at Art History UK is now in its 5th year. These cultural tours continue to be real gems in our members’ events calendar and sell out quick!
Two hundred years ago the small Georgian village of Hampstead began an association with cultural and political radicalism which would last well into the twentieth century.
It has been home to the Romantics John Keats and John Constable, social reformers Beatrice Webb and Marie Stopes, psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, politicians Ramsay MacDonald and Anerin Bevin, the modernists Erno Goldfinger, Piet Mondrian, Barbara Hepworth and Roland Penrose, poet T. S. Eliot and the dystopian writers H. G. Wells and George Orwell – to name only a few.
On this walking tour of Hampstead we will explore their lives, their radical work and some of the area’s key historic cultural hotspots.
Cost: £28.00 per person including welcome drink
Time/Location: 6.15pm, Freemasons Arms, Downshire Hill NW3 1NT
