EVENT INFORMATION

Antony Zaki presents a Rehearsed Reading of:

JULIA PASTRANA – THE VICTORIAN MONKEY LADY

The tragic but true story of a woman born in 1830’s Mexico. Exhibited around the world as a hybrid between ape and human. Her distinct features drew great crowds and her marriage to her manager produced a child who had similar features to his mother. The child died within a day, the mother, a short time after. Her husband had them both mummified and placed in a glass cabinet. He continued to exhibit them until his death. “The world was her stage.”

Cast: Mary Plazas – world renowned soprano takes the lead role and will perform some classic arias.

Musicians: Stephen Higgins – conductor/pianist/composer at ENO, Glyndebourne and Royal Opera House.

Lone Masden – World class Clarinettist, founder of the all-girl band OPUS X. Performs with Andrea Bocelli.

Please join us after show, in Drawing Rooms, with French Jazz singer LAURIANE BORDE and Pianist ROBERT HAZLE, who will perform from 9.30pm onwards. All those attending the play are welcome.
