EVENT INFORMATION

Phoenix from the Flames: A Walk during the 350th Anniversary Year of the Great Fire of London

350 years ago, the Great Fire of London broke out in a bakery on Pudding Lane. Charting the route of the crackling blaze, our pilgrimage will start at Christopher Wren’s impressive Monument.

Catherine McCormack of Art History UK will be your guide as you walk past St Magnus Martyr, the Mansion House, London Bridge, the Guildhall and St Paul’s Cathedral (all exterior only). Hear diary entries written by Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn and discuss the reaction of King Charles II and how Wren built a new Baroque City from the smouldering ashes.

Cost: £34 including drink

Time/Location:  6.15pm, The Folly Bar, Gracechurch Street, EC3V 0BT
