EVENT INFORMATION

Brexit…Much ado for nothing?

We welcome Luke Gittos, Law Editor at libertarian magazine SpikedOnline, to host what promises to be yet another thought provoking, slightly out-of-control and suitably decadent Persuaders’ evening!

On 23rd June, 17 million people voted to leave the EU.  They did so, in spite of overwhelming pressure to vote remain.  Since the vote, there has been a united effort from the establishment to slow down or prevent Brexit from happening.

Even Theresa May, who has confidently declared that ‘Brexit means Brexit’, seems reluctant to confirm the details of what it will involve.  Luke will argue that Brexit should be seen as a modern revolution; and that anyone who believes in democracy must now fight to have the result of the referendum honoured.

Aside from his role at SpikedOnline, Luke Gittos is a practicing crime lawyer, an associate of the Institute of Ideas (IOI) and regularly speaks at the Battle of Ideas.

About the Persuaders: Set up by Radiah Ford (née Binns) and Alban James, the Persuaders is the Home House Debating Society.  It offers members and their guests the opportunity to directly and informally engage with thought leaders from the worlds of politics, activism, media and the arts.
